Penn Nursing undergrads are fully integrated into everything at the University including: clubs, the college house residential system, dining facilities, athletic teams, and study abroad programs. As a Penn nursing student, you’ll work closely with our faculty and engage with the two teaching hospitals on campus as well as with clinical sites throughout the region.
We offer combined programs, integrating our specialized nursing education with the strong liberal arts curriculum and the specialties of other renowned Penn schools (Wharton, Annenberg, Engineering & Applied Science, and Arts & Sciences). We also encourage our students to consider a minor, dual degree, and submatriculation options like pre-acceptance into one of our Master’s programs or toward a degree from Penn Law School or Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM).

The nursing program begins in your freshman year with a combination of science courses, nursing courses and liberal arts courses, and students are encouraged to take advantage of our flexible curriculum and take courses offered within Penn’s four undergraduate schools. Clinicals begin in the spring of your sophom*ore year, and students will have experiences in primary care, acute care, women’s health, and mental health settings working with patients from newborns to older adults.

Please note: The above student budgets includes all standard undergraduate charges but does not include nursing clinical fees, nursing simulation lab fees or the cost of University Health Insurance. You are eligible to submit a Budget Increase Request through Student Financial Services to have your financial aid packages adjusted.
Full refund of tuition and fees is automatic only during the first two full weeks of the fall and spring terms - up to the end of the course selection period as determined on the university academic calendar. Fifty percent of tuition and fees is refunded for courses dropped during weeks three and four and must be requested through the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Academic Affairs. No refunds are given after week four. Please note that this policy pertains only to courses taken during the fall and spring semesters. Summer courses operate on a different refund schedule. Please also see the University’s Return of Funds Policy.

Penn Nursing can answer questions related to specifics to nursing, admissions deadlines, and prerequisites. However, we are not involved in the uploading and processing of transfer applications. You can send any questions regarding the application process to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Penn.

This will largely depend on whether the courses you’ve taken previously can count as credit towards the BSN. This cannot be determined until after you are admitted. If admitted, a plan of study will be drafted for you regarding the remaining curriculum you will need to finish. Generally, students take about 3 years to finish the traditional BSN as a transfer student.
