Back in 2015, we took our girls to Walt Disney World for the first time. The girls were four and sixat that time. The very first ride at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, we went on as a family was Splash Mountain. Well, we found out very quickly that our youngest was not a fan of thrill rides. That fifty-foot drop I think sealed the deal. It also didn’t help that she sat up front!
So, while my husband and older daughter ended up going on some of the others, such as 7D Mine Train, I had to keep the 4-year-old entertained. So, we quickly learned that The Carousel and Dumbo were fan favorites for her.
She didn’t even really like It’s Small World yet. Why? Because she swore, it got dark in one spot. See our baby was afraid of the dark. Almost every ride other than The Carousel and Dumbo had some place that was dark in it. My poor husband was the recipient of our girl practically jumping into his lap head first on many of these dark spots. It became an ongoing thing to have her tear up on so many rides that that first trip.
I pretty much gave into it though and had to concede. Therefore, we ended up riding Dumbo a record amount of times in 2015. I can recall one time in particular where the young kid that was manning the ride pretty much let us go for a second and third time after hearing our tale of scared of the dark woe.
I am not kidding we rode it morning, noon and night!
Finally, my youngest in the past year or so has become a bit braver. My girl even has ridden 7D Mine Train and Slinky Dog Dash! But Dumbo will always be the first love for her. Therefore, Dumbo has a special place in our hearts—always.
So, this kid couldn’t be more excited about the new upcoming Dumbo movie release. For this reason, I decided to make Dumbo Cupcakes inspired by the love of the Disney ride with the same name, as well as the movie soon-to-be-released.
They are so very easy to make. I merely used vanilla cupcakes iced with vanilla icing as the base. Then with a little more frosting and fondant magic, I created an elephant or Dumbo face on our cupcakes. Add some candy eyes and what we ended up with was Dumbo Cupcakes.
So, how about it? Do you want to get ready for Dumbo the movie?
